Default Ls/Vtec swap in 99 civic

I have a 99 honda civic lx sedan with an auto tranny....The motor is shot finally and now is my chance to swap it out and I want to put an ls/vtec swap into the car and convert it to a 5spd. I have everything for 5spd conversion but my question is what block, head, tranny, and ecu should I use? I was told to use a b18b2 bottom end and a b16 head because eventually I want to boost the motor...oh, and since the motor is out of the car, should i swap the wiring harness as well for a b16 or gsr harness so vtec will not have to be wired up in the future and will make things a little easier? Thanks for any help. I will post a pic of my car soon so you can see what I am working with....
