hey everyone i got a b18 in my civic and i wanna do a wire tuck to it to clean it up a bit can anyone give me some tips on it. where the best spots for the wires are and how much work ill be gettinig myself into

 

what "kind" of wire tuck do you wanna do.. just the headlights or the whole wireing harness? cause the best way (at least every time iv doent it) for the harness i take out the heater core in the car and run the harness thru that whole in the firewall..
as for the head lights take off the fenders pull the wires from the engine bay thru one of hte holes in the firewall feed them thru the hole going from the car out towards the door then your gonna see a couple wholes in the unibody "frame" and they come out thru the front what i did was got a hanger and pulled all the wires thru their

if you need any more info on it ask.. its pretty self explanitory

 

when tucking all the wires, do you have to lengthen or change the actual harness? or do you just re route everything hidden? i might be interested in this or atleast cleaning up my wiring under the hood when i pull the motor in the future.

never really known an explanation of this.

i didnt have to do anything with the lenghts.. you just gotta be creative when doing it cause you will run in to some problems

 

. i dont know how you ran your headlight harness' the way you did and not have to lenthen anything, for the simple fact that honda made the harness just long enough and by routing it the way you described you added an additional 8-10" needed to reach the lights and be mounted to anything somewhat safe, have you actually done a wire tuck? you say "everytime you've done one" well if you've done that many you'd have alot more info than just"run them through the fender. are you just trying to post for the hell of it, cause you havent been any help on any of the other threads either

 

would it be easier to add the 8-10" of wire or just try to be creative cuz from what i have read here its not a sure thing about the lengths. i kinda agree it would be easier to have some extra wiring. As for the motor does any of those wires have to be lengthened

 

In my EK, my headlight harness just fit all the way around. I guess if you aren't too horrible with wiring; and trust yourself, then ya lengthen them. I would find a way to fit it around though.

nope,
youll have to extend some things, possibly shorten depending on how you run the wires.
but you could do it without cutting but youll have to de-pin and re-pin every wire witch with take a year to do.
its really not that hard to do as long as you are carefull and take your time with it.
this is no place to to rush, just do 1 wire at a time...

id start with something simple, like the head light wires, and then move up if your not to comfy with wireing.

There isn't much info out there because it is mostly just coming up with things on your own. The headlight harnesses are easy. Start with those. Engine wiring can be a pain and will take a lot more work. Whatever you do, remember to take your time, and write things down! I can't even begin to explain to you how badly I got ****ed simply because 2 wires were switched when they were repinned. It is amazing what headaches 2 wires can cause. In the end, it is not a complicated concept. You just have to be creative and remember to take your time (because it will take a while).
