ok so seriously i know this is a noob question but id rather be flamed than get halfway through a project and find out i ****ed up...
here we go.
ok so i have an ls motor that was bored .030 over
and i think i need a new head gasket
does anyone know:
A. What is a good head gasket for boost (i thought cometic)
B. What size head gasket to get..(iknow this is the n00b part)

 

i know u should get a metal one for sure cuz they hold boost good , but idk about the size,

 

whats wrong with cometic?
most aftermarket gaskets are 0.50 over, so you should be good.

 

i know but im saying since im bored .030 over do i just use an 81mm head gasket?

 

Yes. Im bored .5mm over and still use OEM ls. I would only advise using the OEM steel layered headgasket, and pref from you local dealer/parts house. Most people shy away from commetic. Besides I know a couple 84mm guys running oem b20 h/g @800+whp. If thats not good enought then I dont know what is..
