Well i bought a 600rr track bike and of course the previous owner messed with all the wiring. he eliminated the tail light, kick stand, all bar mounted switches and the ignition. Well I had to install a kickstand and wire that up, a tail light and rear brake switch, headlights and a left headlight/blinker switch. I got everything to work on RUN (obv, since no key). My problem is I can have the battery at 12.6v not running. When I start the bike and have my DVOM hooked up it will drop to 11.2v then go up and hover around 13.3-13.8v depending on the rpm. I had the low beam hooked up on and the bike at idle testing this, then turned the highs on and it stayed the same no matter how i varied the rpm. Well then yesterday I took it for its first ride. I smelled oil burning, like it was dripping on the bike so I pulled over on top of a hill (on purpose) to check if oil was leaking, which it was not and when I went to start the battery was totally dead. I had to pop start it down the hill, now why is my battery dying while running if at idle its sitting at 13.3-13.8ish with high beams on?

the battery is a year old, but it is good still. I had to start the bike so many times before to check little things here and there and the battery will start the bike 20ish times no issue. It seems its apparently when its running and I imagine the lights are on. I just unplugged the headlights so Im going to charge it up and take it for another run in a while and see if it charges or kills the battery again.

i would say its the the rr, but if its staying at a constant 13.8 volts while its running then it leads me to believe the battery is bad.
Should be higher then 13.8v when charging, more like 14.5v. If the battery is old get a new one and try that. If you still have issues check into the Regulator/Rectifier
