about the new prelude?????
I was hearing there will be a new prelude coming to the states. Is this true?and if so where can i get a pic of it?And what does it come with motor wise and body looks??thanks
from what i heard, it's gonna share the new accord coupe chassis but it will look different. it will be a 6 cyl 6speed. however, it will not be coming out until 2004-2005. but i don't know if this is true. i hope it is, because i'll be the first one to buy it.
The accord coupe's chassis is the same one that is shared w/ the Accord 4door and TL isn't it? One of the problems with the 4th and 5th gen Preludes was because it was too expensive manufacturing different chassis, esp. for a car that sold so poorly. In the Accord coupe, you already have a fairly sporty variant of their best selling 4 door, I don't see why they would bring out a Prelude again sharing the same stats and just upping the HP rating a tad. The new Acccord coupe already gets 240hp/6 speed. Why bring the Prelude back and just make it a re-badged Accord. That's stupid.
If anything, if/when they do decide to bring the Prelude back, it'll most likely be in the $25-30k range and be alot sportier. I'd rather they waited and do it right and not just make it a re-badged -anything.
But, Honda is notorious for keeping things under wraps until they want us to know. I wouldn't trust any rumors you hear until you get something official from Honda of America.

Haha as long as we're throwing rumors out there
I've been hearing that if they would bring it back (I hope they don't) it would be a coupe sharing the s2000 chasis. Again, just rumors. Personally I'd rather not see a comback, it's kinda nice knowing I've got the last Prelude ever.

i agree with you....we never have to worry about being outdone by a newer version....although i would probably give mine up and buy it......but thee man is in sales at honda.....and we havent heard a thing regarding its return......profits just werent enough......and things would be even worse now with thee rsx type s and 240 hp accord coupe.......i dont believe that many people are devoted to thee car like we are......too bad huh?
I don't know, I think even if they did come out w/ another Prelude I'd still go for the s2000 over it.
S2000 = My somewhat realistic dream car
I'd also really hate it if they came out w/ a 6 cylinder fwd version. For whatever reason the combination of a 6 cylinder and fwd just screams 30-year-old woman. You know, makes me think Accord and Camry

I hope they revive the the prelude again, but they need to market it and build it so that it DOES have it's own market niche. If it's sharing accord components and motors then in my mind it needs to be:
1)lighter weight and faster then the accord
2)styled aggresively
3)more luxury then the RSX or Accord
In a sense, it has to be able to beat both of the other current 2 door sport offerings that Honda has. Doing things like yanking the sound deadening, etc like the Type R, factory standard carbon fiber or brushed aluminum interior, Recaros standard, etc. They also have to MARKET the car too! You never saw prelude magazine or TV ads towards the decline of the model. ALL generations of the prelude carried a sense of class, style, and speed that the other honda models didn't (exception the ITR). They need commericals of preludes whipping down a canyon road, or racing a BMW owner, etc. Whatever, just something to return it's proper image. It pisses me off that every time a magazine did an "obituary" article for the prelude they made it sound like a parts bin test car. They are much better then that.

I dont think those are pics of a new prelude, they look like hondas ZERO emission vehicle. im almost one hundred percent sure of it.
i dont think we will see new prelude for a long time. i hope im wrong, but there is no market for it right now with the new accord 6 spd and the s2000. honda isnt going to revive a car they killed 3 years ago, specially cause it was for low number sales.
ps: that article is 2-3 years old AND says the prelude was built on the civic platform, which i think is also wrong. that article is nothing but a ton a BULLSH-T

from what i hear there is no chance for the lude to come out...hondas sales werent so great to keep our car alive...unfortunatly...i think the new honda car is gonna be the accord si or something like that...its in the 2003 car buyers guide...its suppose to be some sort of new ivtec system that has like 220 hp or so...thats what im guessing is gonna be the ludes replacement...that accord is suppose to have an aggressive look as well as black jdm headlights...well i may be completly wrong but oh well...at least thats what ive read somewhere...=P
For the same reasons mentioned above, its really unlikely the Prelude would make a comback anytime soon. (if it does, it will likely be RWD) Here's why: you'll notice that the Accord Coupe never came with a manual tranny, which would kill Prelude sales even more. With the new Accord Coupe with 240hp and a 6speed manual and the S2000 being the sports car flagship, it doesnt look like a Prelude would make any sense.
