So the owner before me decided to cut the antenna wire for some odd reason. any how i soldered it back together but im getting like one station max at any given time. is my antenna broke? could i have done something wrong? even when its fully extended the reception is the same. help!!

You can always only get one station at a time. How is it technically possible to listen to multiple stations at one time?

If you mean that you can only receive one station regardless of your location you will likely need a new antenna cable and/or a new antenna.

You could always go with XM but that would require the installation of a new antenna too.

Best bet is to go to a junk yard and find your year/model and yank the cable out of that car. Keep in mind though that that particular cable connects from your head unit all the way to the antenna mast. So, you could be fishing around for a while.

 

just so you know, antennas run on a signal and ground wire. [through the black one that plugs into the back of the radio] the signal is a small copper INSIDE white insulation, while the ground is on the outside of the wire. now in order to get a good signal you must make sure the signal wire doesn't touch the ground. and have them properly hooked up. small wire on small wire, grounds on the grounds.

 

so if the ground is not connected it wont work? when i reconnected it i noticed half the wire (coming from the antenna) had a white center tubing. i thought nothing of it. but the other half( coming form the end of the radio) didn't have a white tubing center. so its essentially two wires in one and i have to connect the the white then the black over the top of the white?

 

Think of it like Speaker wire, its really more like coax, but whatever, you need them both connected.

I'm going to try a hidden under dash, powered antenna. And an OEM block off plate for the original one. That way I won't have to run wires for an electronic raise/lower one. And won't have to worry about my manual one getting broke off.
