Default Max Sleeve Bore

Hi,

I have been trying to find infor on this but can find it anywhere.

I am looking in to a nice NA build and perhaps aiding that will be a stroker kit.

My question is:

What is the maximum you could bore out an AP1 s2000 engine block on stock sleeves and on a darton sleeved block?

I saw a website that had the sleeves for the s2000 and mentioned they could be bored out to 99mm but surely that would leave the walls wafer thin and would maybe crack under hi comp NA build, or will the sleeves be able to handle that?

The website selling the sleeved is:

http://www.ericksracing.com/id83.html

Thanks

Chris

Do you think Darton would come make it, if it couldnt handle it? I really dont think they would do some thing dumb like that...

if the darton sleeved block could be bored to 99mm and you buy a 102mm stroked crank and rods you could in theory you go from a 1997cc to 3141cc?

Interesting, but I cant imagin the block would be strong enough with thin sleeves but maybe i'm wrong? I know Inlinepro do a 2.8 stroker cant remember the bore and stroke, so maybe it can be pushed that bit more?

if you were to go with a 99mm bore you definately would not want to rev that high, the crank will explode lol. just because you found the maximum limit for a given bore, doesn't mean you can run it with the maximum stroke as well. imagine it this way, the bigger your bore means the bigger your pistons which also means more weight/mass

do you really want to be throwing around something as fragile (given conditions requierd ill say its fragile) as a piston and spinning it around at even 9000RPM? I think its possible to go with whatever bore but there definately is a trade off between bored/stroke. you can't max both out simultaneously

That is a good point, I will be stroking the car but not that far anyway, I was just curious.

But take the Porsche 968, that has a 3 litre 4 cylinder engine and has good reliability, the bore and stroke of that is 104mm bore and 88mm stroke. It would be interesting to se if someone could do that size capacity with a honda but could see issues with as you say crank etc.

91 is all you get due to cylinder clearence any more the meat between inner cylinders would not be enough. Check out Golden Eagle Mfg web site they have one of the best track records in the industry for sleeving Honda engines. I think they have stroker kits also not sure.

x1
max bore on a s2k is 90-91 for NA or 89 for FI.
You can have custom sleeves (off centered bore), but you're going to spend major "dinero", plus it'll be a b*tch finding gaskets for it.

ive never looked at one of these, but a 4banger can be bigger than another 4 banger. cylinder placement as mentioned plays a role too. i just looked at my F22C downstairs and honestly there's no way you'd squeeze 99mm on the stock combustion chamber placements. ill triple check with a ruler later.
