Default 84mm pistons safe in a stock C5 block?

I found some 84mm JE pistons for my motor for 50 bucks. I paid for them and just now paid attention that they are 84mm not stock size. I would like to know if it's safe to bore my block that much or should I just sell them?

No.

I believe the service limit is 82 mm.

If you must use those pistons, you need to have the block sleeved.

which is why the couple hundred more on a dart block is so easy to justify

it's really easy to sleeve a block wrong. and the places that do it right are just like the above quoted

I've heard that the dart block requires additional machining in the oil gallery's and water jackets, and other finishing steps before it's ready to assemble. This would certainly put the cost well over $2,000 for the hobbyist.

Maybe somebody with experience has some insight on cost variance between the dart block, and sleeving an OEM block?

I have a Properly sleved block , and its great . its 85 MM also ,
Ive had a Dart block walk a crank like it was out on a date with it , and now theres a dart block chunk of chit
not that that happens alot , but with a sleved block , if you screw up , ( blow up ) you can replace the sleeves relativly cheap ,( BTW , NOTHING IS CHEAP , when it comes to this , sao cheap is like a grand at best . )
i you have any questuions you can PM me
