how do i know the number of my engine
its a 1.6l sohc vtec but i dont know the year of the engine or the number b16,d16 or what. can any one help me out. i imported the motor from japan so it does not match my car.
if he imported it then its most likely a zc vtec which is the replacement 1.6 for the usdm d16z6...although a lot of people put in a d15b which is now a days more common and is also vtec but a 1.5 liter...and for the boosting part try not to boost more than 8 pounds and tune the **** out of it and it shud make pretty good power and be semi reliable...but since u dont even kno what motor u have or how to tell what motor u have by urself i would recommend taken it to some one that knows what they are doing or a friend that can help u out..so u could also learn a lil...good luck...oo and to tell what year it is look by where the header bolts up to it will be engraved in a circle

Check the front of the engine, the lower part where the tranny meets the engine and you can see that it is stamped like in this pic I got off the net:
if its sohc its prob the d16...u can boost it but u should stay low psi...unless u beef up the internals then u could crank boost up.....ditch the d series for a b or h series
thanx thats all i needed. not everyone elses **** talk. i know what im doing im a ase certified tech with 5 years under my belt. i work on chrystlers and this is a new project. i knew i was getting a 1.6l vtec i didnt know anything about all the damn numbers. so anyway thanx.
