I've done this. I have a hytech replica header with 2.5" cat (punched out), 2.5" kteller midpipe w/ no resonator on my stock itr exhaust. It's quiet but sound gets very raspy around 3500+rpm but kinda deep. I will soon be taking the axleback part of my itr muffler and replacing it with 2.5" piping.

I am running a similar setup on a gs-r
T1R Header > 2.5" T1R Testpipe > 2.5" T1R Midpipe > ITR Axleback

Sounds awesome, i had the T1R Axleback on for a little while but it was
too loud for my taste. No modification needed, just longer bolts.

I don't have a 2.5" midpipe, but I'm running a Thermal 63mm midpipe to a stock itr axleback. The itr flange is at an angle, so it had to be cut off for a new flange to be welded on. Quieted down the exhaust tone and drone inside the car a lot!

i have this on my car now. 2.5 tanabe exhaust cut for the ITR axle back.
It gets raspy around 3800-4000 then goes away
