New Noise that goes away when I push in clutch.
Here are the symptoms. I started up my CRX and noticed that when it's idling it makes almost a knocking sound. The sound goes away when I push the clutch in but comes back as I let it out. It sounds like it's on the right side around the belts but the sound doesn't match any of the belts movements? Any ideas?
that's weird. The throwout bearing on mine makes a whizzing noise when its around 2 grand. and the right side is the transmission.
hmmm i'd say it was in the transmission. have a shop check it out. 99.9% of the time, they've heard it before and can immediately tell you what it is. and they dont charge for that

Hahaha I got that exact same noise, I think I'll just ignore it and start work on the b20z swap. anyone know where to get a b20z block at a fair price?
I bet its a input shaft bearing... not real expensive to fix, but you'll have to take apart the transmission.
i second that.

mine was making that exat same noise, this winter i ended up pulling the engine anyways, and i figured i might as well change that while i had it out. so i replaced the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing, no more knock
So would you guys suggest getting one of those Exedy clutch kits sold on ebay and installing that when I do my swap or should I just order the parts elsewhere?

It is amazing how many people have that problem and ignore it, like me. My throwout bearing should hold up till next year, then i'll just replace it with whatever engine/transmission combo i want. Likely a GSR swap or another B16 built since they're just so much cheaper. I want the gear ratios of the GSR though, hate revving at 5 grand on the freeway.
It is most likely not a problem with the clutch, it is the input shaft bearing in the tranny
it is NOT the throwout bearing. its either the input chaft bearing or the differential bearing going bad causing the ring gear to rub on the transmission case. if is the ring gear rubbing you will see some small metal flakes in your tranny oil when you drain it.
