Default Air Pressure for Spare Tire

Hi. I have a 99 Honda Civic Sedan.

I recently had a flat tire and when I changed it with the spare tire I noticed that the spare tire was low in air pressure.

What should the air pressure be in the spare tire?

I looked at the side of the tire and it said 60 PSI. Why is the spare tire higher than the normal tires?

It takes 60psi because the size of the damn thing. . . . its a dinky little rim/tire. They designed the spare to fit comfortably in your trunk and be able to withstand the weight when you put it on the car. . . its like pretty much a trailer tire. Majority of dinky spares are 60. . . full size spares goes with whatever your manufacture says. . . if you are ever curious look on the side of your door. . . it will tell you what psi you should have on your front rear and spare tires.

I've always went by what's on the tire, not what's on the door jamb

why would you check the car for the tire pressure and not the tire?
they make the engraving on the tire for a reason.

if the factory calls for something other than what the tire is, then why would they give you that tire?
