stereo install problem
im trying to hook up an aftermarket head unit for my del sol and i dont have power. i used a harness and all the colors match, i just cant get power into the radio. all the fuses are good. the battery was disconnected during install and when i plug the old radio back in the code light comes on so i know the old radio is getting power. does the anti theft have anything to do with it and if so how do i get aroud it. i need tunes please help.
another thing is dont connect your ground wire to the regular black ground on the pin in the connector. Find a ring connector and find a screw on the frame to connect to. Im thinking your ground is not hooked up properly
Simple way to check
Pull head unit out, Run a power and a ground directly to battery, See if it turns on, if ti does then you either messed up with your wiring or you have a short somewhere in the power...
Also sometimes you have to turn your car on because it may be wired to switched power

you need to run the ignition power wire to the acc spot on your fuse box. all the other wires are good to hook up to where the stock radio was. the dash does not support enough power to handle an aftermarket radio...
you shoulda blown a fuse when you turned the car on...your parking lights fuse is what woulda blown, so no lights on the dash or your parking lights...

ive installed a lot of stereos. white/blue goes to battery, thats your constant. yellow/red is your ignition. so you will want to connect the new radio's red power wire to your acc on the fuse under your dash. the yellow you will clip onto the white/blue wire...(could aslo be white with yellow, most common white with blue). behind your new stereo every wire will be used except the yellow/red wire, which you should cap off.
hope this helps.

use the harness for every wire except the ign power wire. as i stated earlier, you will want that red wire from your new stereo to go to the acc on your indash fusebox. otherwise you will blow a fuse or your lights will be extremely dim
check the harness to make sure that the pins did not back out and are not making connection, this actually happens quite a bit...
-you said radio works fine
-you said factory radio works fine
It HAS to be the harness...or ground
if you want to be safe just check the (yellow) and (red) with a multimeter with the key on and you should get 12v... also check your ground (black)
After reading a few more of the posts I have to edit
Are you hardwiring? (using factory wires with no harness)
Or
Are you using a harness? (aftermarket purchased from store)
BTW EX-MECP Cerftified installer...

Get that harness from Crutchfield, all you have to do is solder the wires from the harness to the stereo and it will clip onto your stock head unit harness.
dude just get a freakin test light! hook one side to ground (i would use the one you hooked up to make sure that one is working as well) with the other end touch the yellow one (battery) and see if the light turns on, then touch the red one (IGN) turn the ingition on and see if the light turns on.

Also, if you are hardwiring (not recommended) I suggest getting a tone tester to check for your speakers, or you could just use a 9v battery and solder wires to it to make the speakers *pop* to locate correct wires... or get a chart showing what the wires are... I would just get the harness if I were you much easier and less chance of messing something up.
when you all fuese are good are you also saying the fuse on the deck is good?
what type of deck? what kind or car?
also the deck may be dead. it happens alot more then you think.

That's crazy...I simply wired in my harness directly soldering the connections to the stock system and the stereo works fine. I had heard that you had to connect the ground and +12v to a source outside the harness but I didn't have any trouble with mine.
Should work. But maybe your yellow wire, which is fused from the aftermarket company, has blown it's fuse.
