My car is having a bit of a problem. Its an 2000 LS swap. The car will turn on fine. After turning it off and coming back to it later, the ignition will turn on but the car wont crank or start . When i turn the key to start everything shuts off and when i let off it turns back on just like its suppose to except no cranking. I have to play with it for a while and then it will crank and start right up with no CEL. Any ideas of what it could be?

 

Sounds like a bad ignition switch.

 

what do u mean everything shuts off? check battery/connection and starter.

 

x2 get a battery terminal cleaner and clean the terminals on the battery and the battery connectors in the car.

 

x3 if that does work try another battery and if that still doesn't help check you ignition

 

ya i think its a bad battery. last night the battery died in a matter of 15min with the lights on. Today its been doing the same so i have a feeling its thats because the alternator and starter are good. Thanks ill post back tomorrow

 

turns out it was the ground. thanks for the help

 

Which ground was it?

Btw, I was going to swear it was the ignition switch that was the problem

 

the ground from the block to the chassis. tried removing bolt n it just snapped from how badly corroded it was. then swapped it to another bolt by the ehadlight n started up right away.
