Default 91 CRX Si Mini-Me Swap with Y8 Head

I have already searched around and have found a lot of good information on the swap. Though I still have a couple questions. This is my first time working with a D series motor, I've always worked with B & H motors. My main question is with the D16a6 block and a D16y8 head does my brother need to pick up a adjustable cam gear? I have seen write-ups that say you need it and other that do not mention. If anyone could give any information it would be very helpful.

Setup will be:
-D16a6 Block
-D16y8 Head
-D16y8 Head Gasket
-D16y8 Timing Belt
-D16a6 Water Pump
-D16y8 Intake Manifold
-OBD0 to OBD1 Conversion Harness
-P28 ECU

If i am not mistaken, i believe you need to use the A6 cam gear with the y8 cam.

I think it is relative to the cam.
y8 cam gets a6 cam gear.
z6 cam gets y8/adjustable cam gear.

you should wait for someone else to confirm though before doing it.

I think thats only when swapping onto a d15 block, because of the decreased deck height.

Can I get verification on this??

as well as in you mill down the head you need an adj cam gear. these are the only 2 reasons y you would need one. besides the fact your building a drag car lol
