Default How to fit a 99 civic rear lip into a 98?

I just purchased this rear lip not knowing that it was really meant for a 99 civic and now when I attempted to install it was too long. Did anybody every try modifying one these to fit into a 98 civic. I tried researching but came up empty handed. Does anybody have a link or some sort that can lead me into modifying this. Id rather get another one but shipping here is just way TOOO expensive.

Um, all 96-00 rear bumpers are identical for each respective bodystyle (except for the bumper moldings with EDM & JDM prefacelift). You sure you don't have hatch and sedan/coupe mixed up?

That can be done but then I dont really want to spend alot again just to mount this on.

Umm, they are im not too sure then. That is because when we mount it to my 98 coupe its too long and then we we mount it onto a 99 civic coupe its fits just right and both cars are stock bumpers.

You must have bought a coupe/sedan lip and you must drive a hatchback. The front bumpers are different from 96-98 and 99-00, but the rear bumpers are the same in 96-00. What kinda lip is it?

maybe for hatchs but for coupes the 96-98 bumper is different from 99-00 thats why mudflaps dont fit all years

Now this is confusing. Well the lip I have was tried in all of the mentioned years and cars. Wouldnt go in a 98 hatch, won't fit my 98 coupe but then it fits the 99 coupe. So meaning to say is the 98 and the 99 civic coupe different in rear bumpers. Ill give it one more shot with all the cars again the hatch and the two coupes to really see might even take some pics if possible that day.

You have a point there. I noticed that but I thought it wouldnt really matter at all but I guess its because of that thats why its a little bit longer compared to the 98 rear bumper. I will try to fit it again tomorrow and now i just picked up a new Mugen lip that really fits my 98 coupe this time and I will try fitting that into the 99 coupe and see if it fits or not.
