Which head is better?
im looking to start building a b20vtec motor and wondering which head would be better a b16 head or b18(gsr) head. Have some time before i start so gimme your thoughts
thanks
thanks
Well. I say go for whatever you can get a better deal on. If you are leaving it stock then its a toss up. B16a = slightly better flow B18c = slightly better cams.
So its up to you. If you plan on doing some porting and building it doesn't really matter that much.

heres the thing , if your using a stock B20 block i would suggest the B18C1 head because it has a smaller combustion chamber than the b16(p30) if your gonna port and build the head then it dont matter that much.. and eather way dont run stock cams you need more lift and duration for the displacement

IABS was developed as Honda's stab at variable length intake runners. Please enlighten us all with how this creates a "swirl" and how that "swirl" is better for a turbocharged application. Speculation? I think so.
I've always said any head is good head. I agree that whichever one you can get your hands on at a more reasonable price is the one to go with. I've used both with great results...
X2...
B16A2 Engine....160hp
B18C1 Engine....170hp
B16A2 best performance head, best cams

B18c1 head is taller so it would look bigger when you show off your beast
. Both are practically the same in flow from the charts. Just use whatever you can get.
