Recently I have noticed a high pitched clicking noise comming from the front of my car. Whenever I accelerate or brake it clicks once, but it seems to do it on either side of the car, near the front (like the wheel area). I jacked the front up today and got my Dad to hold one wheel still, and when I went to spin the other I found that there was some play in it (like ~5 degrees) before my dads side started to turn, and a click. Is it normal to have slack between the two wheels? Drivetrain mods include CM FW and ATS FD.

 

so your dad held a hub, and you went to try to move the other side and it was free play?

if you didnt mention the play in the suspension, i would have assumed it was a broken motor mount.

Is the LSD stock?

 

You know when you have the front of the car in the air and spin one front wheel, and the other side spins the opposite direction? Well, is there supposed to be some free play between the wheels when you do that? There was free play between the wheels when I spun one, like there was some slop in the LSD or something. I would have to spin it about five degrees before the other one would move. Is that not normal?

LSD is stock. I have all my mounts done, and a fairly stiff suspension. There is no play in the suspension at all.

I hope my LSD isn't shot.

 

Nothing to worry about, warrenty should cover LSD failure. But I hear you guys have crappy *** dealerships who don't honor alot of tranny warrenty claims

My tranny has obviously been opened (ATS FD install). I think they would laugh at me.

 

most tech aint gonna notice that ****. think they know a jdm fd from a usdm...they counting teeth?

Getting back to the point, does anyone know if there is supposed to be play between the two front wheels like I have described?

 

It may be axle related and your lSD be totally fine.

nothing to worry about man that is normal free play,a single click noise when you back out of a parking place and once again when you drive forward its also normal
its that what you hearing?

 

And when ever I accelerate or brake from a cruise. I guess I'll just take it to my dealer.
