Default 95 ex vtec quesiton

Hey newbie here this is my first honda and i had a question about the vtec in my civic.

Should i be able to feel the vtec kick in on my 95 ex 5 speed d16z6? I cant feel nor hear the vtec kick in at all. I was told it was supposed to kick in around 4800rpm but i feel nothing.

I currently have cold air intake, 4-2-1 ceramic header, and exhaust. thanks

You shouldn't feel it, but you should be able to hear it (you should never feel vtec "kick" on anything, if you do its loosing power before vtec, its supposed to be a smooth transition. Any CELs?

you won't feel it, and in a single cam it's very difficult to hear especially with exhaust, as previously asked is there any DTC's? if not then your best bet for hearing it is a long straight road and 3rd gear.
