Should i buy this ef???
Found this on a classified website. Advertised for $1000 CDN.
It came from Florida apparently no rust ANYWHERE.
Has 105,000 miles on the clock. Looks like the body has been sprayed with primer which I can deal with. Do you guys think this is a good deal? Would I see any return if I sold it within the year?
SHOULD I BUY IT? I have a b20/vtec setup with a JDM LSD 4.4 Trans and the required mounts/axles to fit in the EF.

1000 is okay. how is the interior looking? needs a paint job to make it worth anything so if you intend to paint it then it will be resellable at a higher price. if you have the spare motor laying around buy it, swap it, and paint it. should make it easy to sell.
that guy needs to learn how to paint, i see so much overspray, and it just looks ew for that much money. offer 5,000 dollars before he raises the price. and if he says no, say 500. he might take it.
hella overspray. yeah i wouldnt buy it for 1000 but if you have the time and money to paint and swap it, and as long as the interior is nice, it might turn out pretty nice in the end.

A rust-free (!) shell in complete running condition with pillar-mount seat belts for $1000CDN is an okay deal. You'll want to knock on the quarter panels and rocker panels for signs of body filler and look underneath to verify that it really is a clean shell, because it may have been primered for a reason.
If you do buy, get some real paint on it ASAP. You don't know what kind of primer was used, and if not properly done it may retain water and actually accelerate rust formation.

Pillar mounted belts? Where else would they be mounted?
it looks like the side molding is screwed on, that probably means there will be holes in the door that you will have to fix. there might be more problems than that also if the didn't put that on right. I wouldn't buy it for $1000 CAD. I would offer $590 CAD which i believe is about $500USD.
im not really a fan of the std models, but they are lighter from what ive been told...convert to either a crx front end or a ef9 front end and you should be gewt
I just can't stop cracking up reading comments from all of these California folks telling the gentleman from Ontario that the car is worth a couple hundred bucks at best.
Obviously none of these people have ever travelled outside of California nor do they understand the concepts of regional pricing variation and rust.

That's why the rusty hood trend makes me laugh. It's interesting out here because we only see rust on 30+ year old cars...whereas all the east coast/northern/Canada guys are wondering "why would anyone want rust??"

A Civic hatch from the LATE 90's is hard to find without rust. It's crazy. 9 out of 10 EG's here have rear wheel/rocker rust. 6 out of 10 EK's have rust in the back.
An '89 Civic in Ontario with no rust is unheard of and if you do manage to find one they sell for a song.
