91 crx crank,no start. hot weather? (100F)
car ran great last night. woke up this morning, went to turn on the car and she turned on for about 20 secs and then just died. i listened for fuel pump and i couldnt hear it. i tested it by directly applying 12V to the fuel pump and it turned on. checked the spark plug wires and there is no spark whatsoeer on any wire. changed main relay, and still nothing. tryed changing the ecu and still nothing. what can this be? i think i have all the info. thanks for the help
You posted in the 92-00 civic section, moved for you.
I don't know much about the crx's, but if your not hearing your fuel pump come on in hot weather common problems with hondas.. Check the main relay.
GL!

did you change the main relay with a known working one? I had this problem when I first got my car, and the relay i swapped out did'nt work. I had to open it up and resolder the whole thing. Also, my grounding strap from the valve cover to the chasis was frayed and deteriorated really bad. Once I replaced that, it ran even better! Good luck!

it sounds like it might be the grounds. check to make sure all the grounds are clean I think there is one on the transmission also. I had a bad ground it makes weird thing happen. You might just want to replace them you figure there from 1991. good luck.
Alright. I checked for grounds and their all good. There's one from the negative battery to the tranny, and one from the engine harness to the thermostat housing, and one from the valve cover to the radiator support. And still the fuel pump and the the dizzy arnt turning on. No spark, and no fuel. I disconnected some sensors from the engine to see if the ecu threw some codes, and no codes. The light doenst blink or turn on. What else can I check ?
I did a search on your problem on the internet and found someone had the same problem it was ignition fuse. theres alot of good write up's on this problem.

my car did this when the distributor went out. except it would run cold, but when the car heated up and i turned it off, it wouldnt stay started it would keep dying
this what i found on yahooo ,,,,,,
Failure seems to be on the main relay circuit board, where solder connections gradually fracture and develop resistance. This resistance goes even higher when relay is hot from car sitting in sun. ECU then cannot tell when ignition has been turned to START and does not send requisite pulse of power to fuel pump. With no fuel pressure, car won't start.
This is very typical in the earlier model of Honda, the Honda dealer may have a service bulletin on this problem.
