215/45/17 problems anyone? pics?
I just mounted up a set of 215/45 on my Volk GTN wheels. I havent put them on the car yet. Is anyone else running this same size on their R? I previously ran 205/40 but tires just looked too small..I'm thinking i may have an issue....
Anyone have pics?

I am also running Ground Control/Koni shock setup...I don't like the care slammed on the ground. When you say they will rub do you mean in a straight line or while turning?
Car is not slammed.. I had some fender gap with the previous 205/40 combo. I won't be able to test fit them on car till Sunday so this is going to bug me until i can find out.

You should have put 215-40-17's on there. And usually cheaper brand tires are typically smaller.
I had a name brand 215-40-17 and a cheaper tire in the same size. The cheaper tire in the same size was substantially smaller than the name brand.
FWIW. I use 235-40-17 on my car. My fenders are rolled and I have nearly -4.0 camber up front and -2.0 in the back. No rubbage

Yep they rub but only at hard braking in the front. It rubs the plastic fender liner. I could raise it up about 2 turns on the coilover and it might help. The rims are tucked inside of the fender. The rears will tuck also. I'll post up pics tomorrow...
The best size for 17" wheels on an ITR is 205/40-17. It has the exact same outer diameter as the stock size tire, so it won't rub, it will keep the accuracy of your speedometer and odometer, it won't slow your acceleration like bigger tires will, etc.
Nope everything was there, just rolled the rear fender up some and that was it.
NSXtacy, 40 series tire was too thin for me I bent one rim easily and took them off and went to 45. Car was daily driven and is not tracked at all so 45 was more of what I needed to protect the wheel from Los Angeles pot wholes.

Im going to make some more adjustments. Once those are done I'll decide if I'm going to keep them. It really rides well and handles well. I haven't pushed it very hard in a high speed corner section to tell. I still have to lower the rear a couple turns and then check clearance.
BTW I still have my stock wheels for when i start tracking the car. These are just my street tires..
Kahuna look at your sidewall compared to mine...Doesn't yours look shorter?

look at your rear tire it looks slim. what width is your rim mine was 7.5 in. And I was running Bridgestone S-03, tire companies design tires differently. Go check out the tires and you will see differences on what the sidewall looks like.
I'm going to have to raise the front in order for it to be driveable..Still don't know if I'll keep the tires.. May have to go down to the 215/40.
That's a good reason NOT to get 17" wheels. If you want more protection against potholes, you're better off getting 16" (or 15" wheels) with the proper tire size, rather than 17" wheels with oversized tires.
