So i got my new motor and i have the engine bay empty....im DEF going to clean it up a good amount....but since im doing the entire rest of the car basically, im trying to figure out WTF i wanna do with the engine bay. Painting the bay seems like its going to be a whole other project in itself to have it done right....im to the point now where i just want to get it done and get my F'in car back on the road....ive done the entire interior over and put in a fresh motor....I WANT TO DRIVE!!!!
the problem is that since my chassis has had about 4 swaps done in it, its a little beat up...ive taken a freakin toothbrush to my motor and tranny so its all nice and clean, im also wrapping my headers in the DEI heat wrap in black....i dont know if i want to just clean the **** out of it.....paint it black....or paint it white.....If i do black, i wont have to take as much stuff off...ill just paint over most of it....its black anyway....if i do white, its going to take a looooong time i feel like....but it will prolly look nice and fresh all redone in white....
if anyone has any links to threads on cleaning the bay, or painting, please post....or any advice from people who have done it recently and can give me any pointers...thanks for the input guys...

well to be honest white is not such a good option as it will seem dirty fast and heat from motor might discolor it i would think. if u go with black it will look nice and clean for a while. idk just a thought

if your car is white i'd personally paint the bay white to make it look good. i hate when i pop the hoods on cars and the bay is a different color.
its not really that hard but takes some time. i personally used a red scratchpad after i washed the engine bay down with degreaser, tinfoiled the brake lines, taped up everything else. then i used a spray gun to paint the engine bay. i can't see discolouring because why wouldn't the original paint fade? and if it fades, your not really going to notice it anyways.
anyways my color went from white to red so any screw ups would of been noticable but it looked good.

Just a little time consuming. But if the exterior is white then paint the bay white. I agree that when the bay is different it does look a little tacky. However black wouldn't look aaaaall that bad with the white.

Ya I would go wit the same color as the body. I have a custom House of Kolors paint job done on my whip but the base coat is silver and my whips original color is silver so I left the engine bay stock nd it doesnt look tacky, at least I dont think it does.
