hey Q. about d16 block
hey everyone well i did the y8 motor swap on my 97 HX civic and i notice that the Y8 motor burn a little oil. The oil rings are going bad.
I was wondering if i use the Y5 block, can i use y8 pistons or upgrade the pistons??

not sure, but is the y5 block have 4 valve releases? If so just bolt the Y8 Head to the Y5 block. and Why you gonna take out the y8 pistons and put them into the y5 block? your gonna have the same problem. if your gonna do all that then pull the pistons out da y8 block and RE Ring them and put them back... Problem solved.
Or run a Oil detergent like Lucas to thicken up your oil. You can drive a car 80xxx miles or for a long long time with bad rings just keep oil in your motor when it burns some out. fill it back up.

Yes, the y5 will hold a v tec head. y8 head....https://honda-tech.com/forums/group-threads-123/d15z1-d16y5-vtec-e-squad-1535304/
i agree....my d15b7 bottom end with y8 head has been through hell and back, the rings were fried and i just kept a good eye on the oil level. The motor is now in its third car and its still running fine!
