have you checked your particulate strainer for your vtec solenoid? check it for debris which would impare proper oil pressure and volume from reaching the valvetrain so it can function properly. do not use any petrolium based cleaners on the Oring assy. or it will damage the part

If the sensor are bad the CEL will go on!!! I don't think that are the sensors. Remove the air filter and drive the car ,in this way you will hear more cleary the vtec. That's will help you to know if the vtec works corectly.

you have to check your Vtec oil, just unscrew the vtec solenoid with a pair of vise grips and check the fliud level. it might be really tight so you should prolly use a cheater pipe on the handle. good luck......GFKY!

You might want to try swapping out the oil filter while you get ur oil change and try one from a K series onto your b series vtec block. What this does is increase oil pressure and reduces the bogging out that some people experience with vtec ingagement. A higher oil pressure + sufficient oil level = a well oiled head for more reliable vtec.

lol.....some of you guys crack me up...you have one of the most sought after cars in the Honda/Acura in the U.S......one of the only things you need to regularly do to maintain your motor is change to oil....its what $30-40? if your using good oil maybe $50-60....

vtec NEEDS oil to function....vtec powers the high end of your motor, without it, you may as well be driving a stock LS that is running like ****....lol

CHANGE YOUR OIL!

well MR. Bad *** its not the oil cause i checked it. it was my fuel pump what the car did was choke at the time vtec kicked in. im guessing a stock pump isnt good enough for a type r and it also did the same thing witht the b16 that i had but it choked at low rpms

i've never heard of a k series oil filter on a b series motor. Are all k series oil filters the same? Does this actually work? sounds interesting..

im pretty sure that all k series filters are the same, but first check with the dealers just to be 100% sure. This method does work.
