91 Hatch clunking noise when turning left .....
here is the deal i have been checkin and checkin to see what can cause that noise......i though that someone here might give me a hand that had the same problem.
i have a ef 91 si, both axles are new, koni suspension with hr springs, both sides have new bearings, new lower ball joints, new tierods inner and outer, new front transmission mount.
i read somewhere else that it can be another motor mount that is bad and makes the engine move when turning, and I also read that it can be my sway bar. what do you guys think????????????

if i turn left it makes a continous clunk. but the clunk is only when I turn a deep left meaning almost all the way to the left. so if I am going straight does not make any sound, nor if I go in reverse. If I slightly turn to the left on a light it does not make a sound. its freakin wierd lololololo
Im getting tired of it

I have been told it is the spring rotating in the upper shock mounting base (not sure if that is the name) on full lock. Mine does the same thing but I won't worry about it until I replace the shocks.

I would look into the replacement axle for sure..

another axle vote from me. make sure you fix that asap. don't want that thing splitting on you while your driving it, they tend to make a mess.
about 3 weeks ago i got reman axles from Napa both left and right, you guys think its still the axle? Does a reman axle goes bad that fast??????????????
they might? idk. i know remanned ones do suck some times. get down on your hunker's and take a look at it. is the boot torn? put your car up on jack stands and see if the wheel's wobble when they turn.
I was putting my camber kits yesterday and the boot definetly is not torn, nor does it leak. do you think it will have to do with the sway bar or something like that?
Well most of the time you start where you last left off, so if you just threw in new axels and then this just developed check there first.
Ill def take the axle off and take it back to NAPA to get a diff one.
But does any one else have any other insights besides the inner cv joints????????

Most of the time this happens when there is a problem with the CV boot on the axle, sounds like it just needed grease re-packed, but I'm glad you got it fixed either way.
Kinda reviving an old thread to tell you of my clunk fix. I had a noticable clunk in the right side but could never figure it out. I had replaced everything, and it was still there.
Turns out the upper A ARM bolt on my cheap Ebay parts had either been cross threaded or just came a bit loose. It took me forever to figure it out. I had the car on a rack and I was rolling it forward and backward trying to follow the noise. After about an hour, I finally was able to notice it moving ever so slightly. It was difficult to trace the noise without jamming my head against the moving wheel. Not a good idea.
Finally got it taken care of, replaced the garbabe with the Skunk2 adjustable A ARMS, and couldn't be happier. I know this is probably an isolated incident, but just in case I figured I would post.
