coilovers with stock shocks
with what ever coilovers i decide to get (looking into GC) with stock shock for various reasons (including no budget due to saving for a swap) how low can i go? i cant possibly go all 4 inches??? or can i? i got stock vx ims that i really love but u know they're 13's...i got like 3 inch gap i wanna get rid of. sorry for this post being so long
I have GCs on my htbk.. I only did a 2inch drop overall..but I can easily go to 3inches or more if I cared for it .. I say just contact GC and ask them what the maximum drop is on there kits
Do the GC have one spring or two? Cause the smaller "helper spring" should allow you to lower it all the way without wobbly springs. If they don't come with a helper spring it'll probably ride like Sh*t lowered all the way since the spring won't be making contact, especially on bumps and corners.
your stock shocks will blow anyway do to the spring rates. they cant handle anything more than maybe pro-kits. im riding on blown stock shocks with my gc's and its not a very smooth ride to say the least. just save up to get some better shocks.
You can put the coilovers on any height that you want with the stock shocks. The lower you go though, the shorter the life span will be with your stock shocks, and the bouncier the ride will be as well. I rode around on a 2.25-2.5" drop with my stock shocks for a year before I got my Koni Yellows. When I took my shocks off, they were all still in good condition.

if ur gonna install the GC urself, do it with ur stock shocks and experience the danger(actually, it was worth it to me when i did it knowing how it used to ride w/stock shocks..)
... BUT get the shocks sooner or later BEFORE u do the swap... BTW my stock shocks lasted about 5 months with my cheapy coilovers all the way down!! hope that helps...

shocks help dampen ur ride over bumps..as the shocks begin to wear the tires begin to loose contact with the pavement cuz they shocks cannot keep up with bumps in the road...it becomes increasingly dangerous cuz ur loosing contact going into turns ..also in the rain u loose ur contact patch contantly..and ur tires begin to wear unevenly..its dangerous and costly
