hook up iacv?

i was wondering if the coolant lines to the iacv HAS to be hooked up because when i bought my swap they were not hooked up but its plugged in

Doesn't have to be, but it makes life easier normally.

well am getting some surging on a cold start, if i hook them up should that stop it?

I don't think so. Have you cleaned your IACV?
