Default ramps...

What ramps do you guys use to get under an Si?

I don't want to jack it up and put it on stands just for an oil change. The ghetto slats of wood I used to get up on my other ramps are all split up..

Jack and jack stands work perfect.

any generic ramp from any of the major auto parts stores work fine. if you are lowered or plan on "slamming" your car you may want to look into low profile ramps.

It takes the same amount of time to jack the car up and place it on stands as it does to line the ramps up and drive onto them. Also, jack stands take up a lot less room under the car.

Also, I think that using a jack and jack stands is much, much easier than using ramps.

Man I was hoping to see you hitting some ramps in your civic when I read the title. I'll say what everyone else said and say use a jack and jackstands.

Or you can dig a hole in your yard.

I've jacked up various vehicles easily over a hundred times. I simply asked what ramps people use for lower cars. My dad, in his old age, likes to change my oil with me, and he prefers the ramps. Yes I can change my own oil. Now I guess I'm going to get criticized for that too.

The issue is that modern cars, and especially lowered ones, don't work with ramps so well. A 1973 Impala, sure. A lowered 08 Civic, not so much.

Really, jacking the car up and placing on stands is the correct thing to do. On occasion, I've jacked up my car and placed it on a set of very old metal ramps my dad had sitting around, but no way I could ever drive on or off the ramps, stock height or lowered.

If you really want to use a ramp, then a "low profile" composite ramp would be the best bet.

Here is an idea

Ok, it might me a bit more expensive then ramps, but it really makes getting under the car easy for oil changes, cleaning, etc; and no fear of having a car fall on top of you.
