Icon2 Tranny Mount Bolt holes Stripped!!

Just swapped in a d16z6 into my EG hatch and my motor almost fell out!!! the Passanger side motor mount popped off because the holes are stipped completely!!

should i re-tap the holes, tap bigger holes and get bigger bolts, jb weld the bolts in, try to weld them in secure, etc.???? Any other suggestions????

or should i ripp the swap out and get my 4 bucks back???!?!?!? lol

P.S. when i finally got it started for a quick moment i noticed a slight noice that my buddy said was the flywheel but to me it sounds like a tapp or knock!!

yea drill them out as he said. then look up in a drill tap chart, and see what size you should tap it at.

Re-tap them with a HELI-coil kit of the proper thread size. I had to rethread one on the timing belt side not too long ago.

you can tap it to the same size it is originally, I did it for a hole where the tranny bolts to the motor. Unless its already been drilled in which case you will need a bigger tap and corresponding bolt. Not a big deal except for the fact that taps are way too expensive lol. Not familiar with the Heli coil thing so that might work for you too.

this is the proper way... plus put some loc-tite on the bolt or something...

Yes, like all these other guys said. It is important to re-tap the bolt holes to the correct dimension.

But under no circumstance should you use JBWELD to hold your motor to the chassis. That would be insanely dangerous! I know you said the motor was blown...but in the future just keep in mind that when it comes to safety JBWELD is not the answer.

i currently have the same problem in my ef with a b16a swap. the hole on the inside stripped while the the outside one broke right off. is it better to put a helicoil in the stripped one or drill it out to a bigger size and weld the outside one? help plz!

Helicoil is the right way to do it.They work great if done correctly and there were a few for rent on here a while back.
