Default 87 CRXsi seats

Hey guys, I'm looking to replace either the skins or the entire seats on this car. I'm guessing that skins would be next to impossible to get. So, maybe both entire seats would be the way to go.
Can someone tell me what would fit? I am not opposed to modifying my slides, nor am I opposed to putting in non-crx seats. My concern would be seats that didn't fit at all, or put my head through the roof. My wife and I are both small, so a little more height is okay. Acura? other Hondas? My thoughts would be to get nice newer seats from a salvage yard, etc. Please reply. Mike

The best/easiest upgrade are 88 CRX Si seats. They are a direct bolt in with your rails. Also the 88-91 JDM and EDM CRX's use the same seat pans and will bolt in. The next easiest is a set of 89 -91 CRX Si seats, but you will have to swap the pans, again everything will bolt up, but requires a little more work.

Finally, I actually think the seat skins are still available for the first gens. Let me do some checking and I'll post in this thread.

Edit: Just checked and it looks like the only seat parts left is the passenger side lower cushion assembly.

I have an opportunity to buy some dark grey seats from a mid 90's civic - fantastic shape, quite cheap. Aside from fabbing the slids most likely, is there any reason why they would not work? I guess I'm wondering what seats just would not fit in the car? Thanks. Mike

Unless someone has specific experience with those seats it's hard to say. If I had to guess I would say they will probably work with a seat pan swap, but I have no idea. S2000 seats will work with a seat pan swap; so anything is possible...

Something to think about with the 1st Gen... There is not much headroom in those cars, even less if you have an Si with a sunroof. Later seats will just "bolt in" but the new seats are much taller and you could be scraping your head on the roof.

Your local upholstery shop can reskin your seats with fabric nicer than stock. Waht more support? They can build up the cushions. Want leather? Your local shop can do that also.

Last night, I picked up a pair of never installed acura integra seats for a '96, black cloth, from a honda tech - he says he was going to put them in his prelude, they were clearing stuff out of the dealership, so he said, - paid 100 bucks, cheaper than any upholstery shop could reskin my seats. They are nearly the same size, will fit the car nicely, just some minor modifications to the mounts. Time to fire up the mig welder.
Thanks for all the input guys! Mike
