Default Odd cooling system problem...

So why in the hell would my over flow reservoir constantly be getting filled up? Every few days i have to pour my over flow reservoir back into my radiator. If i don't it eventually fills up all the way and over flows. Anyone got any answers? Any help is appreciated.

Well, that really just means your engine is getting too hot or your radiator cap is either failing or the wrong spec.

If the engine is not overheating, then the cap could be bad letting too much pressure and coolant out.

If it is overheating then clearly you have a problem or there is air in the system.

Change your radiator cap and check.

You have a small leak in the cooling system somewhere. When the engine gets hot, the liquid expands and comes out of radiator and through the hose just under the rad. cap as I am sure you know. If the cap is not holding pressure, it will allow the coolant to boil at a lower temp than normal.

Now, when the system cools, the radiator is sealed and so draws a vacuum on the overflow line. If there is a small leak in the cooling system, it may allow air in, but water may only drip out on occasion. It is more likely that the small overflow line has a hole in it so that when the radiator draws a vacuum it just pulls air - like drinking through a cracked straw.

Cheapest - replace the overflow line and if the radiator cap is more than 5 years old, replace it as well. Both are cheap.
