How do I clean this shiz?
The question i am asking is why? No one can see it, it will not effect the performance of any new clutch you put in there. Its the equivalent of brake dust. You could probably just use simple green and paper towels. It will come right off. IMO unless you are selling the trans, theres no reason to clean it up unless you have nothing better to do.

spray it down with simple green, and let it sit for an hour or so, take it to the local car wash and spray simple green on it again then blast it with the car wash sprayer
I broke an outer case and the ATS 4.929 FD in my ITR tranny in my Civic.
I purchased a spare used case and a GS-R tranny with a broken inner case from a bolt being cross-threaded in it.
Both cases were nasty as hell, and I doubt Simple GReen would take all the nasty crap inside the bell housing or even the grime and dirt on the outsides.
I'd say a really strong acid or brake cleaner. It may discolor the aluminum and turn it a whitish color, but trust me that's better than grimy or dirty aluminum.
What's worse than grease?
MUD.
The shop I work at has a high pressure high heat wash cabinet for parts, and after 8 hours in there the GS-R tranny that was muddy is still not clean. Mud simply doesn't wash off. I'm just going to scub it off with a cookie and rebuild that tranny and sell it.

Castrol Power Clean, a brush with a good handle, and the local coin op carwash

It's in the purple and white bottles. STRONG as hell, it'll even eat the skin off your fingers from an hour of cleaning engine parts!
WEAR GLOVES!
Also, be sure to drain the tranny to get any water out, then refill with good Honda MTF when you install it.

Go with an engine cleaner, let it sit for about 1/2 an hour, hose it down. Spray Simple Green, let it soak, brush it, and hose it down again. It took me about an hour or so, but it came out looking brand new... Have fun!
