B18C throws CEL then no power? help please
Well i got a GSR JDM B18C OBD1 in my 96 hatch that is fully rebuilt with just over 300 miles on it now. It runs perfect and very strong until it gets warmed up then the CEL comes on and it starts running like total crap? The guy that rebuilt it for me said it was the knock sensor code. So i replaced the sensor but still no luck. So what are my options? Someone said i may be able to get it chipped to bypass the sensor? is that the only way i can get around it, or is there a easier and cheaper way to do it? thanks for any help
well if it is fully built im guessing it has aftermarket pistons so u will throw no because gas is burning differently so u need to modify the ecu if u are in the socal area i can do it for you with crome
whoops im sorry i mean it is totally rebuilt with all new pistons, rings, rods...etc, all the stock stuff.
im not really sure when i went to autozone they have to shut the car off to check it, and as soon as you shut the car off the cod goes away. but the guy that rebuilt it said it was a knock sensor code when he checked it.
try plugging a stock p28 that would eliminate the code just to make sure it is that if u replace the knock try wiring it direct to the ecu its on ly one wire
