expected 1/4 mile time?
hey guys, i have an eg civic coupe with a gsr longblock and ls trans. i did a compression test and it is a very healthy motor with 235 across all 4 cylinders. i also have a short ram intake with spectra filter and a 2.25" n1 style catback exhaust. i went on google and did a 1/4 mile calcultor and it came up around 14.6 but i dont think that it would be that fast, especially with the ls trans. if anyone is using a similar setup or know someone who is, it would be great to hear an accurate response. thanks
This is considered bench racing which is against the forum rules so i have more-or-less no choice other than to lock it.
As for your setup, i can give you some insight/advice. The GSR longblock is a good start, but the LS tranny, with its longer gearing, is going to kill your acceleration. Since the LS is a torquier engine meant to get better gas mileage than performance, it isn't suited for use in a drag application. That's going to limit you a lot.
The quarter mile calculator you find online is going to give you a close-to-ideal time for your car. If you had it truly dialed in, you could probably hit that. A more realistic time is a low to mid 15 sec pass. Also, the modifications you listed, although they will help, will not do much of anything since there is no tuning involved....meaning you're not utilizing the full potential of the parts. I hope this helps some and steers you in the right direction. You can visit the Drag Racing Forum for more advice and help. Thanks
