Icon6 "Squealing" sound when clutch is not pushed in

In the last month or so my car has developed a squealing sound when the clutch pedal is not pushed in. I've noticed when sitting in traffic in neutral with the window down. As soon as I press the clutch pedal in the squealing sound goes away. At first I thought it was the throwout bearing but to my knowledge the throwout bearing will make noise when the pedal is pushed in correct?

FYI: 2005 Honda S2000 with ~ 45k on it. Original clutch.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Joe

I would say its the throwout bearing. It makes noise when the clutch is NOT pressed.

throw out bearing or the bearing in the flywheel, either way you have to drop the tranny might as well put a new clutch in at the same time, it's not too bad of a job.

Any reason the throwout bearing would go? What am I looking at long term if I don't replace it right away? The clutch still engages and functions perfectly.

Not sure if this is a common occurrence.
