Default 2nd 3rd grinding w/ popout

I have a 98 GSR and ever since i bought the car its grinding, i got some synchromesh, and it didnt do anything. I know the Grinding is the synchros and other stuff related to that, but what causes pop-out? ill be going around a corner in 3rd (it only pops out in 3rd) and then it will just rev cause its out of gear. Any Ideas?

make sure your fluid is topped up. If it is too low your shifter will pop out of gear.

I use to have this problem on my EG... Third would grind, and if I was in third at low speeds, it would pop out of gear. You can hold it into gear, but yeah, ultimately synchro is gone. You dont have to replace the entire transmission... You can buy all the synchros for 150 bucks, and with a little know how, have a properly shifting transmission, that shifts better than junkyard stuff.

thats what i was thinking, like i dont wanna buy one at the junk yard not knowing if it work or not. i mean i know it would be cheaper to probablly buy another one used, but i think rebuilding it would the best bet.

it is call the third gear gear set, its like 150-175 dollars. The first time I took a trans a part it was very intimidating but all in all. I'd rather rebuild a trans then and engine. Its not as bad as you would think. Good learning experience. Get a manual and read the instructions an try it out. Pay attention to would you took apart, it orientation and be clean. Good luck in what ever you decide to do. I think the gear set and some honda bond would be cheaper(use honda bond HT)
