Default Turbo sizing for F22

Kind of curious on turbo sizing for F22's. I have a T3/T4 57 trim on my built D16, and that obviously is a lil large and spools a little late but is good for what I use it for.

Now I have a friend with a F22, he is asking me to help him out a bit, but i really don't have any experience with anything larger then a 1.8l B series. He found a deal on a Garrett T3/T4 turbo with a .50 a/r compressor housing. I am talking to the seller and trying to get the trim and turbine housings but hes at work right now. But in general, for a T3/T4 on a F22 from an accord ex, what kind of spool are we looking at? I know its not a small turbo, but its not a tiny one either. I would think that with his increased displacement and a smaller turbo then me it would build boost fairly quickly, maybe 3000-3500?

He uses it as a daily driver and wont be making any crazy numbers, but would like to give his 4 door some get up and go.

i will post up the complete specs as soon as i get them. and hopefully I can find a flow map.

With a 50trim on that F22, he should have pretty good spool...I would have to imagine it would be in the 3-3500range like you said. Think of it like a 2.2L D series...

Lol its true, d series is the lil brother to b series and F is to H lol.

Well now that that's cleared up, what kind of power have people Put down on this engine? He wants to run it stock, with some Arp studs, i dont see him running any more then 6-8 psi, as long as that's safe on these engines.

He would be fine with 6-8 psi on a 50 trim... given the obvious supporting mods and proper tuning are present.

You really would not even need the headstuds for what that 6-8 psi on a 50 trim would equate to in power by my guesstimation from playing with F's for a while now.

Is it really a garrett turbo or is it an ebay 57 trim with a .50 a/r compressor housing? the a/r isnt the trim either. is the size of the compressor housing.

on a single slam accord motor a 50 trim t3/t4 with a b cover aka .50a/r would be pretty decent. spool good and make ok power. id opt for a 57 trim with an E cover aka .60a/r compressor housing personally for a little more flow up top but thats up to the person where they want their powerband to be

that's the thing, i have a legit garret i ordered from a garret dealer, the one he is looking at looks legit in the pictures but i told him to ask for a picture for the serial plate. And i know trim and a/r are not the same thing, Ive been boosted for awhile now and did a lot of research when i built up my engine. But both are essential to figuring out how much this turbo actually flows and responds.

on as side note, he has a 95 accord ex, that means he has a F22B1 SOHC VTEC correct? does this have the equal exhaust port spacing or the odd ball spacing? ew looks like im right, it has the un-even port spacing... can some one confirm this?

I can confirm you are correct, it would be an F22b1 sohc vtec.

I guess the best option for him is the ebay cast manifolds which work fine, but the 0 00 0 spacings ones are a bit more money then the equal port spacing ones, ghey.

one more question since you are very knowledgeable in accords, does a P28 plug right in to the stock harness?

p28 should plug right in, they all use the same plugs and cases just different internals

Yes it does, just have to swap A6 (02 heater) and A11 (egr solenoid) pins.
