people who have kumho 712's on their 94-95 ex alloys...
what size kumhos do you have? stock is 195-60-15, i want it to be a little wider but i don't want it to affect my speedometer.
thanks
thanks
that does the change the speedometer.
195/60/15
first number is the width, doesn't matter how high it gets, the tire only get wider.
the second number is the space between the fender and the rim, that affect the speedometer.
last number is the rim size.
60 is stock, 55 is 5 MM less. which will roughly take away 1% (maybe less) on the speedometer.
so if you are going 100MPH, you are actually only going 99MPH.

If your speedometer has been calibrated for 195/60 R 15 tires, replacing them with 205/55 R 15's would result in the speedometer reading high by 1.40%
what this means is when you are going 60 mph, your speedometer will tell you that you are going 60.84 mph...big deal

205/55/VR15 on 94 ex alloys. They do affect the speedo/odometer... but its so small that its not really significant. Acceleration is slightly better, but the car sits lower and the wheel gap looks bigger. What i don't like thou, is that 205/55/15 kumho 712's are noisy and bumpier than stock, thou that could be tire compound/design as well. I plan to try 205/60/15's kumho 712's or MX tires for slightly more sidewall and a larger overall tire than stock when my current one's wear.

not pluging ecstas... check avatar.
any other poeple run 205-55-15? im thinking about running these but does this really make the wheel gap look bigger?

This may seem like a long drawn out explaination but it works. Take your size. 195/60R15. Take the first # being 195 and divide it by 25.4 -- then take that # and Multiply it by the aspect ratio being 60 (however use .60) -- then multiply that by 2 since there are 2 sidewalls. Then add your rim diameter being 15. That will give you the overall diameter of your tire. They say that a 10percent difference is ok.

All you need to do is reset your trip odometer while you are on the highway at a mile marker, I found my 225/40-16 to be 5% off, ex. spedo reads 20 I'm going 19, spedo reads 80 I'm going 76.
