Default timing belt lose ?

i rebuilt my motor and it has 13k on it now but ive been noticing that the timing belt moves a lot like at idle on the exhaust side it move like 3/4 to and inch. then while revving to 2500 it moves prob 3/4 on both intake and exhaust. is the tensioner spring bad i cant remember if i replaced it or not i know that it has a new tensioner on it just dont know bout the spring.

When you installed your timing belt on your motor, did you have the 14mm bolt loose on the tensioner and rotate the engine at least 3times around before you tighten it back up?

Honestly I never use the spring as my tensioner puller(but i still leave it in there so when i rotate my engine around the 3times my belt doesn't jump on me) I have a little hanger type of tool that hooks onto the tensioner and I pull up on it to where i'm comfortable and tighten the 14mm bolt down. Of course I make sure to rotate the engine around after setting the timing at least 3 times and making sure the exhaust side of the timing belt is tight and the intake side loose so that way when i pull up on the tensioner it'll tighten the intake side up.

yes that bolt was lose and yes i rotated the motor. maybe ill put presure on the tensioner than tighten it. now do you leave the tensioner lose then rotate the motor then tighten the tensioner? or do you tighten the tensioner then rotate the motor ?

what i would do since you've rotated your motor already.. just rotate it with the bolt still tighten.. when the exhaust side of the t-belt gets tension on it feels kinda stiff then you loosen up the 14mm bolt and put some tension on that tensioner and hold some tension on it while you tighten the 14mm back down.. you should be good to go. good luck sir.
