what would YOU do?
did a compression test today on my 95 LS its got about 86,000 miles on it-
Cylinder 1- 150psi
Cylinder 2- 125psi
Cylinder 3- 125psi
Cylinder 4- 95psi
I then put a little bit of oil in cylinder 4 and it jumped up to 125psi..so i am taking it that its the rings
I have been interested in a WRX STI for some time....but this is my first car and it would be hard to see it go. I have the basic add ons.. Intake Header and exhaust..
If i did do a rebuild i would like to Drop a GSR in it..but my issue is...is it really worth it..i mean i love hondas and my integra and all but you need to put soo much into it to really make it fast...where you can buy something that comes automatically fast from production...
What would you do?

Built not bought is the route I like to take. You have a lot more pride in your car once it is all done any you're beating those people who bought the fast cars. Makes them wish they had your car and that they spent more initially but your car is faster lol.
Buy a GSR Block and B16 Head and build yourself a motor and you'll be happy you did. I definitely glad I built my integra instead of buying a beat up WRX since I have no money lol

by an sti or an evo
i swear to god at every car show they should have a parking lot strictly dedicated to sti's and evos
ive never ever seen anyone that isnt a kid in an sti
heres my standpoint on them
a dime a dozen
but a very solid and fast car
seems like u must be 19-28 to drive an sti or evo because out of the 100's of them thats all i ever seen
kids that have money and dont know jack about cars buy them *not saying thats everyone*
I hate 4 doors
I hate backseats and people in them

and i dont see it as a good idea going from a 3,000 car that is stock to 20k car
doesnt seem reasonable
and i agree with steve
Built not bought
you are obivously a car enthusiast and honda lover otherwise ud be on clubsti or something else but not HONDAtech
so stick with urs, build your car
personally if u dont track or autox whats the point of having a fast car?
so u can beat someone on the street u will never see again risking tons of innocent lives just to be "cool"

Option 1 = Take the time to learn a lot of the intricate details associated with engines that you otherwise wouldn't know and rebuild it. It's really not that hard, just make sure that you do the proper research beforehand.
Option 2 = Replace the engine with something else. Maybe a "superior" engine, maybe a stock equivalent. Heck, do what I did, put a D15B8 in an Integra and get mad crazy gas milage.
Option 3 = Invest in a new car. It may be worth it to rid yourself of the Integra for something similarly priced, but honestly if you're not well endowed in the financial department something significantly more expensive is usually a bad idea.
Personally I prefer option 2. I've had too much of option 1 in my life to enjoy it anymore, and I've had just enough of option 3 to think that it's usually a bad idea 99% of the time.

I would drop a B18C5 into it (ITR motor) if you're just looking to go N/A...but if you want to boost it, try looking into getting a built B18 motor and boost it...you could always do a rebuild/build on what you have, but that would be costly...and as for the WRX STI it would be cheaper to make your integra faster than to buy one of those...and for the price you'd be paying, you'd probably only be getting a stock STI anways which wouldn't even be that fast...you could also just save your money, drive what you have now, and then buy something else and sell your current car...whatever path you choose, make sure it's what YOU want to do...not what everyone else is in to or anything of that matter...in the end, you are the only one that matters and that will need to be satisfied....and if you're on a low budget...check out xs-power.com they have cheap turbo kits that work...the only problem is sometimes the exhaust manifolds have issues with cracking but just get a kit with a cast iron manifold or buy one seperately...shouldn't cost much....you could increase your car's horsepower by at least 100 with $1500... xs-power turbo kit, clutch, dsm injectors, good tune, etc....should be able to obtain it all for cheap if you look in the right places....how much do you have to spend? that's where it all starts...or how much will you have to spend by the time you will definately need/want to do whichever you want?
keep it. sti's and evos are overrated. for 10k you could have a teg that would spank a stock evo/sti's ***. so for 13k total you have a UNIQUE car that is fast as hell -OR- for 20k you could have a car that anyone could go buy and that would be beat by the other 3 million of them...just my $.02

with less than half the money you would have tied up in a wrx, you'd have an integra that would let one sit.
