Okay, i have a friend who's got a 91' civic with a D16A6. He's putting a ZC head on it,
head code PM3-10. My question is, which bolts and gasket should he use? I think A6,
but just wanna make sure. Any input would really help. thanks

 

use a z6 headgasket

 

Under the assumption your friend is installing an SOHC non VTEC ZC head (PM3 cast) he'd use the exact same gasket and bolts since it's going to an A6 block. As "88 acED6" stated, you can use a Z6 head gasket but you should make sure that the head and block are within spec because a stock Z6 head gasket is metal.

Off the wall question, is there any specific reason why your friend is doing this head swap? Because if I'm not mistaken, its the exact same head as the A6.

 

That's what i figured. The reason my friend is changing his is bc he
overheated and cracked his old one. Thanks for all the help.

 

SOHC ZC head and A6 head are exactly the same except for cam.

 

Make sure he checks the block for warpage...especially if he overheated the motor enough to crack the head.

 

Be sure to use the new style head bolts that have the spiral shaft. They are re-useable. The spiral shaft prevents stretching. Good Luck.
