I have my valve cover off and was told i had a type r head....I want to confirm(trying to see if it is only a b16) so how can i tell with the valve cover off? I can snap a few pics if needed thanks

sorry i searched cant really tell besides eyballing the valve springs which doesn't seem to be reliable way.........flame away for not searching

 

the valve springs, cams and the bowl blend are the only differences. when you clean up the bowl area you should see some port work. then again the early jdm R heads were plain as cast units. i know it's better for the ego if you have an R head but other than the above mentioned, nothing is different.

 

take some picture im sure there people on here who can tell.

 

you should be able to tell if its a type r head without removing the valve cover, there should be some prints on the outside of the head rite above your header.
