Default 1990 integra ls many problems please help

when i first bought the car in mid april it was just fine everything running smooth no problems was always running cold no extra sounds and problems.

2days later mny tail light / illumination fuse kept blowing out so i rapped a wire on the fuse and stuck it back in so i could drive at night.

week later valve cover gasket and cam seal on distributor side started leaking so i replaced them both

week later i noticed that my cam seals on the cam gears were leaking really really bad so i replaced it and had to call a friend to help me put the timing belt back on

so my timming was off by a tooth and my car felt really slow at this time (i would press the gas but i felt no torque no pull and it took forever to gain speed) so i was told and the idle wasnt still

my vavle cover gasket that was replaced started leaking major after i fixed the cam seals (found out it was ripped)

day later i bought a new one and replaced it at this moment there was oil all over the, spark plugs, injectors, injector rail and intake manifold i cleaned it up as much as possible

when i was replacing the valve cover gasket i decided i might as well fix the timing belt (again a friend of mine with experience came and helped me.) almost got it right but idler was still jumpy and the cars exhaust got much louder

so i changed the distributor cables the next day cause one was not holding on the spark plug (thought that would fix it but it didnt)

ran for a week then decided to change the spark plugs to see if that would fix it.... didnt (when i went to get the spark plugs decided to get engine degreaser also felt like cleaning my motor)

me being an idiot i sprayed alot of degreaser almost everywhere ant started whiping somethings down

left it for 4 hrs and came back found puddles of degreaser on the intake manifold and started to get whip it off. when it was clean i hoped on the free way

less then 10 min on my engine light came on. (that never happened before) so i pulled over and turned the car off turned it back on and everything was fine so i merged back on the freeway and drove off

10 min later my car was acting funny really really funny. my brakes started to get super stiff but the brakes still worked (i thought my caliper was stuck)

so i thought i should get home and take care of it so i kept driving

then my car was really choking, i was pressing the gas but it wasnt going (i remembered that i might of had a exhaust clog, one of my friends told me that) so i started to pull over and my check engine light turned on my car started to over heat.

i hopped out and saw alot of smoke comming from the driver side wheel and the fan for the radiator wasnt working. so i hopped in the car and turned the AC on to turn the fans on...

waited til the temp dropped and then i turned the car on and merged back on the freeway i drove really slow just to get home..

(what hit my head was that the exhaust clog overheated the engine and burned out the o2 sensor causing the check engien. that seemed to make sence)

i was really broke and i had to drive my car the next day to school. so i took my CAT off and beat the filter out of it and threw it back on the car. seemed good but the car was still overheating (well it seemed like it. it ran much higher then it used to but it was still at the center of the gauge, fan turned on there)

so i kept driving slow and calm with ac on

the next day when i was driving home from work at night my battery light turned on. it pulsated on and off and would go off when i came to 1700 rpm and it was really strange. couldnt tell what it was so i decided ill take a look at it the next day after school.

then next day (today) on the way to school in the moring my lights were really really dim. the battery light wasnt on at first. the radio was working fin for a while then started to turn off and back on. the battery light turned on but the car still kept running and i had to get to school so i kept driving.

after class the car wouldnt turn on so i push started it, i had to get to work today so i hoped on the freeway and the battery light wasnt on at all and the radio worked well no problems got to work and everything seemed just fine.

after work when i was driving home the battery light came on and when i got home and turned the car off it wouldnt turn on. i tried checking all that i could, grounds terminals, wires ignition cable, alternator belt adthing that i could check i checked....

even the tail lights for a short but nothing.... i cant figure this out and it would help very much if someone could give me advise on what to do.

i need to get this car running by monday for school please help

thank you.

all the money that i have to spend is 300

You created a short by doing this... Start your electrical troubleshooting there. A auto parts place can test your alternator while in car still.

As far as your overheating issue. Is it losing/using coolant?

The brake pedal is stiff because your caliper is stuck against the rotor.(Like driving with the brakes on) Its over heating because like you said the fans are not working (Probably a relay) And your making the engine work extra hard like driving with the E-brake on x50.

The brake problem is probably a faulty caliper or master cylinder..The fan problem is probably a relay.

Sounds like your alternator is dead/dying. Hook up a voltmeter to it and hold the rpms about 3k. You should have close to 13.5 volts with the headlights on (high beam), rear defroster, and ac blower motor full blast. This simulates full electrical load on the car and makes the alternator go to full field/ full output...

Be patient. address one problem at a time.

Wassup Pete. It's Richard.

Bump for you.

Hopefully we can fix the alternator problem when I stop by there right now. We should post some pictures and post them up afterward (for informational reasons).

got any questions pm me i can walk you through it.
you dont have to remove the axle like everyone says.
im tryin to get the vid up to compare (when my brushes went bad) cause the battery light to flicker like your talking about
i had the same symptons you did too, when the brushes are starting to go bad the alternator will work intermittenly so an alternator test could come up good when its really not..ask me how i know i had mine tested 4 different times.

i would make sure something is not making the alternator work harder for some reason. sounds like you have some electrical gremlins and if you replace the alternator but still have a problem your just farting in the wind...and there 200+ new i believe

what your saying scares me cause i replaced the alternator put a 10 fuse in the tail lights and illumination spot its supposed to be a 15 and its working fine right now no problems. battery light is gone... tail lights work fine everything works so what should i do next.

by the way i got the alternator out just buy loosening the half shaft bracket that mounts up on to the block. was a big confusing cause it will only come out one way you just have to play with it. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS

ya thats what i going to say about removin the alternator, you just have to remove them them bolts and slide the shaft out of the tranny just a bit..

If everything seems to be workin fine then you might be alright you might just have unrelated problems
