Ok so this has been happening for about a few weeks now, almost 2 months now...
I have a D16Y7 99 Hatch.
Every time I wake up and get in my car and turn on the ignition. I hold down the clutch, turn the car on and it would crank but not turn on. I can keep it cranking for a long while and still not turn on. Here's the weird part! If I crank it for a while and then slowly let GO of the clutch, it'll struggling turn on! WTF??
Once it's on, I can smell gas since I guess it was building up until it finally turned on. For the rest of the day, it'll turn on like normal, no struggle. But only when the car isn't used for a long time like overnight, it'll do this. This is what I tried so far.
Parked it overnight outside in the sun and in a garage, still does the same problem so I know it's not the main relay. I changed that anyway since someone here recommended it. It's not the fuel filter, got a new one, still does it. I already have had a full tune-up. New spark plugs, spark plug wires, battery, cap n rotor. And yes, I do have gas in my car....What the hell could it be?
Once it's on the first time, the next couple times I turn it on the same day, I don't' have to let go of the clutch, it turns on as normal. I heard there's a sensor for my clutch, could that be it??? Others say, it's a fuel line sensor that's under my backseat???

i would say that your ignition coil inside your distributor is starting to go bad if it only happens in the morning...if its still the stock one i would change it just to b on the safe side...b/c i had that problem in winter time since it cold up in PA
FYI, if you happen to flood it w/fuel, Hold your gas pedal to the floor.. When the ECU sees ~95+% TPS and start mode is enabled it disables the fuel injectors so it can clear the flooded cylinders..
Just my 2 cents..
Just my 2 cents..
and id also check your coolant level, and your coolant temp sensor, if your car doesn't see coolant temp, it reads at -30 degrees so it runs rich as can be to try to warm the car up

I remember I did that once and my S300 said it was -30 out.. I remember thinking "God, -30 and I don't need a jacket anymore..? SWEET!!!" lol
sounds like a fuel pressure regulator, once you can actually get enough pressure built up to start from startin it so much it will run but when it sits it bleeds the fuel pressure down
I know exactly what this is. I had this problem after my first engine swap. theirs a sensor under your distributor it has a clip with 2 wires coming out of it. well i have no clue what it does but what i think it does is tell the ecu if the motor is hot or cold for it to know the timing or the fuel input i dunno and without it my **** will do this ONLY in the moring or after it sits more than 8 hours.
Any codes? Test for spark, check your electronic timing and check your fuel pressure.
