UPDATE AT BOTTOM

Car is a 2000 GSR, running a basic turbo setup.
-Log manifold
-Garrett 57 Trim
-3 inch downpipe and exhaust (no cat)
-RC 550 Saturated injectors w/ the plug and play injector clips (no splicing)
-Hondata 4 bar map senor
-P28 w/ Hondata S100

Car made 280whp on 9 pounds.

Ran flawlessly during summer '08, went away for the winter, but I decided to throw in some ARP head studs for extra security. I don't work on my own car, but the person that does is a very experienced retired mechanic, who specialized in Supras and MR2s in the late 80's early 90's. He doesn't work on Hondas every day but he is very thorough and I trust that he really knows what he is doing, and he installed the turbo kit to begin with and did a very thorough and excellent job.

The problem: He removed the head and replaced the stock head studs with ARP's. Other things that were replaced are: head gasket, valve cover gasket, intake manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, 4 spark plug gaskets, the 8 rubber washers on the head, 4 new plugs, and the timing belt. After everything went back together the car was idling extremely rich. The timing has been checked and is spot on. He is going to tear back into it on Saturday, but I am wondering if any one has thoughts on what could be wrong. Like I said this guy doesn't tear apart B18's everyday, so I am wondering if it is maybe something Honda specific. On Saturday we are going to put the stock injectors, map sensor, and ECU in to see how it runs. If it runs fine then then we know it is one of those three components that is causing the problem, but like I said before the car ran fine before the work was done on it.

If anyone has any ideas that would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a fuel pressure regulator? Do you have a fuel pressure gauge?

 

Wonder if the map sensor didnt take a dump on you

 

I hope the compression is right after changing the HG

 

I do not have a fuel pressure regulator or gauge, and the HG used was an OEM, same one that was on before.

As for the map sensor, I will have to see. Is there any way to test it?

 

I dont think there is with as s100, too bad its not s300 so you can datalog

 

This once happened to me after I pulled of my head. I found out one of the wires on my o2 sensor was cut.

 

do you have the map sensor and tps plugs mixed up?

 

I will check the O2 sensor and make sure the Map sensor and TPS plugs are correct first thing in the morning.

 

Ok so here is the update

We put the stock ECU, stock map, and stock injectors back in, started the car and it ran fine. We then put the Hondata 4 bar map sensor back on, car ran fine. Then we put the P28 ECU w/ Hondata S100 in, car ran fine. Finally we put the RC 550cc injectors in and when we started the car it ran like crap, stumbling all over the place.

I had the injectors tested today and I just got a call saying that all 4 are working fine.
This just leaves the injector clips, so I ordered 4 more and will try those on friday. Anyone have any other ideas?

 

Is the car tuned? maybe the injectors are staying open too long? A 550cc injector will push alot more fuel in the same amount of time as a stock injector.

 

This doesn't make any sense. How did you test your 4bar on the stock ecu?? then how did you put your tuned ecu in on stock injectors?? Neither of those should work, so your test won't show anything.

Also it isn't your injectors plugs i would bet.

 

The car is tuned and ran fine before the work was done.

The car was just started and idled, it wasnt driven. I think that the point is that it ran considerably worse with the RC injectors in then it did in any of the other instances.
