I recently purchased a GSR with plans to turbo it. I plan to do is run the stock motor for a while, but get ARP head studs and a thicker head gasket, then build a bottom end and hope to keep this motor running while it's being built.

My question is what gasket to get. I've always heard great things about cometic, tons of my DSM friends use them. But if I want to lower the compression, I've heard of double stacking OEM gaskets or running a thicker head gasket (Cometic or Golden Eagle).

I plan to run an SC61 spec turbo with a .63 t350 turbine with a Equal lenth mani, 44mm wastegate, 3inch dp, 1000cc injectors, and have it tuned with Neptune when I get it all together. Is it even worth getting a thicker head gasket? I've been told to just run the stock head gasket with copper spray and the ARP head studs, but just wanted to get some other opinons.

Sorry if these are newbie questions, I'm just not that fimilar with hondas yet.

I would like to make 300whp on the stock motor, but I would settle for more or less. It really comes down to safety. If I could make more power with a thicker gasket, if it's safe, I would like to. Some people say don't bother with the thicker gasket, that they are more trouble than good. But I know with the stock gasket, it's 10:1. I run 93 octane gas, but with that compression, I would still be able to run like 6-8psi safely, I'd imagine.

You're good for looking for safety, but with the head studs, the stock gasket is fine to use. As long as it is installed and tuned correctly, you should be ok with it.
