Default DIY custom exhaust

ok, so i'm looking at re-doing everything from the headers back on my brother's 88 rex and my dad said he would weld it, if i can bend it, so i'm looking at hydraulic pipe benders on ebay, and was just wondering if anyone has done their own exhaust set up like this? it would be 2.5" straight pipe all the way
maybe after i do his, i could made some money doing friends...$$

I was gonna ask the same thing.
it would be a lot better if it was mendrel bent, although I think thats quite a bit harder and more expensive. I'm not even sure whats involved in mendrel bending

I think mandrel bending is a slower process that keeps the diameter of the pipe consistend...crush I think is faster, but there is a small amount of diameter lost.

in mandrel bending there is a piece inserted in the pipe (the 'mandrel') while it is being bent to shape, the equipment for this is not cheap...
I'd prolly pick up some pre-bent pipes from jc whitney or a similar shop, cut to length and weld it up, let us know how it looks when you're done.

i think this would be easier, i'll post pics when i get it done, but does JC have just straight pieces of pipe? I see they have all the bend pieces i would need, but nothing as far as straight pieces go. oh well, i'll just pick it up somewhere else
