2001 Civic - My right rear power window will roll down but not up. Motor and master switch have been replaced. I've noticed that when pressing the switch in the down position on the rear door, I hear the motor click (sounds like a relay engaging). This is with the window all the way down. When I do the same thing from the front (driver's) switch, I don't hear the click. Neither switch elicits any response in the up position.

The rear window switch connector has five wires. I'm not sure why a power window would require five wires, unless there's a feedback mechanism. The other windows do seem to know when they're all the way up...using the 'up' switch doesn't cause the motor to engage and groan temporarily like on other cars I've had. In any event, I'm hoping that someone can at least point me to a wiring schematic so I can trace this problem out.

For posterity, I tracked down the problem with the help of my 5-yr-old and a voltmeter. The BRN-YEL wire supplying voltage for 'up' was sliced clean in half inside the rubber boot between the right rear door and body. This seems suspicious given that it wasn't frayed and the boot is not pinched or torn. But, at least it's fixed.

 

hmmm so you just did some simple connection test to find out an open connection right?

my front passenger only rolls up, but not down... I've already ordered the new regulator only to find out it can only go UP... guess i'll have to do more wire searching...

now did u find out the other wire colors are for?
