is this your dd? if it is, i wouldn't do any weight reduction, if at all. i've made the mistake of removing my ac and ps before, and i'll never do it again. but anyway, you can remove ac, ps, cruise control, the thick mat between the dash and firewall, airbags, seats, spare tire and jack, replace glass with lexan, remove bumper reinforcement bars, sunroof, abs, ac/heater boxes under the dash, and get lighter wheels. if you drive this car a lot you'll probably regret removing most of this stuff very quickly.

Team-Integra had a pretty good thread going a while back where people weighed everything they took out of their car; One guy claimed he cut about 250lbs out of his DC. However you could just search HT for "weight reduction" and read all day too

What made you think he has a sedan? His username has DC4, which is a coupe, fyi.

To the OP, assuming this will be a track car, or mostly a track car, there's a lot you can do. Flywheel, wheels/tires, AC, PS (swap in a manual steering rack for even more weight savings), rear seats, rear panels/carpeting, spare tire/scissor jack, bumper beams (very unsafe and illegal to remove these on a road car), center console, cruise control (if you have it), ABS (if you have it)...etc. etc.

I have to ask though...why do you want to reduce your car's weight? Some parts are really not worth the hassle to remove if it's just for kicks.

Well yes this is my DD but I would just like it to be lighter. I just don't want to be passed up by Hatches with swaps. But a guess removeing 250 lbs or so wont make much of a differance. But I'm always wanting to improve my cars proformance and to keep it clean and ofcourse runing good and fast. so i guess my question is should I gut my teggy??? or just trade it for a hatch thats already lighter? but once you do a swap on a hatch and do the 4 wheel disk brake conversion and everything wouldent it weigh about the same? Some good advice would be great !!! Should i gutt it ? keep it the way it is? or get a hatch? Im really wanting to be in around2000 lb if its possoble. but i dont think i can. let me know

250lbs makes a HUGE differance. There was a great artical in Honda-Tuning mag about removing weight. Also you have an LS, LOL you need to alteast boost it or put a Vtec motor.

4 Dr Integra and 2 Dr weight almost the same. Plus a 4 Dr is much stiffer because of it's structure. Ever notice ALL the pro race track Integras are 4 Dr's? For their stiffness.

On the weight saving topic... I have a DC4 and I want to strip it out. I'll be parking it by weeks end and driving my beater EG around... I'm starting with the entire interior from the pillars and back. Deleting my rear wiper, spare, jack, all AC components (previous owner already removed pump and condenser) I'm also switching out my PS rack to a manual civic one.

If anyone nows of a good thread for rack conversions... let me know.

If you can find the right things to take off it works well. I notice weight when I have 3 people but now with me and a passenger

dask weights 10 lbs. your seats/brackets are about 50lbs. buy recar5o or bride, which are about 10lbs together. your spare tire is about 15lbs. each steelie is about 30lbs each. rota c-8 is about 10. rear seat is about 5 lbs. carpet is about 5 lbs. c/f hood and hatch and roof.

If this is your main source of ration for gutting the car, then you bought the wrong vehicle. If you want it to be faster, turbocharge it or supercharge it.

Crushed dry ice and a little bit of patience worked for me to completely remove it from my hatch.

I weighed out 34lbs of sound deadening out of my 95rs track car. I used an air chisel and chipped out in about an hour or so. If people wanna know more weights of things ill weight them and post since my car is tottally stripped and i still have the parts.

my 96 teg ls was 2755lbs with me in it and full interior with corner balance at west end. i started stripping down my integra. i took off most of my interior parts which is easy but i also removed my ac. ps. abs, all heat shields from the exhaust. all the bs clips and brackets from my engine bay. with rear whipper delete and antenna delete. ok basically this was my toy car so in the end i went back to west end cause my teg was off balance again and with me in the car it was down to 2234lbs. but this is taking it to the extreme almost. the only thing i didnt do was all the sound materials and carbon fiber stuff.

skunked also got his car down pretty light....something around 2300-2400lbs w/ driver and H22. Keep in mind, whether you strip the teg or buy a civic, to get it truly light, you're going to have to give up things like rear sway bars, abs, sound deadening, etc. Honestly, civics arent really that much lighter, they just lack all of the above mentioned items that come std. on a teg (plus power d/l, windows, cruise, sunroof, etc)....and they have smaller brakes for the most part.

if this is a staight line track car...we have gone as far as to cut out the trunk and rear section floors are re weld in thinner material....it's not safe to put a bunch of weight on, but it covers the holes in the floor...got a ef hatch down to like 12 or 1300 lbs....it was crazy...and all it took was a mildly built ls to get it movin like no other...

just a thought

Just turbo it. You get alot more with alot less head ache. If it was a pro race car then ya go ahead and strip it. But is it really worth it?

Easy, get a CF hood and CF hatch and color match it and some lighter wheels.

Or just swap, a Simple B20z swap will do.
